Your Mac's apps
Naseem can use the apps you already have. Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes and Contacts, on this Mac, with every account they already sync. Nothing is fetched from the internet by Naseem, and nothing leaves your machine. Free.
Turning them on
- Open Settings ▸ Integrations ▸ Apple apps and switch on the ones you want. They are all off until you do, one switch each, so Naseem never reaches further than you allowed.
- macOS asks its own permission the first time each app is used: Calendars, Reminders and Contacts under Privacy & Security, and Automation for Mail and Notes. The card shows what has been allowed and opens the right pane when something hasn't.
- Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, a work account — whatever your Mail and Calendar already sync is what Naseem sees. There is no account to connect and no key to paste.
What you can ask for
- Mail. "What came in this morning?", "Find the invoice from Sara", "Read the last one from the bank." Ask for a reply and the message opens in Mail, written and unsent, for you to read and send. Ask Naseem to send and it asks you first, every single time.
- Calendar. "What's on today?", "Am I free Thursday afternoon?", "Put a design review on Monday at three", "Delete the nine o'clock one."
- Reminders. "What's still open?", "Remind me to send the invoice tomorrow at nine", "Mark the groceries done."
- Notes. "Find my note about the quarterly plan", "Read it", "Save these decisions as a note in Work."
- Contacts. "What's Sara's email?" Read-only, so Naseem can address a message to the right person.
- Together. "Read this morning's mail, put anything that needs doing into Reminders, and draft replies to the two that need one." That is the whole point: one request, several apps, one approval per thing that changes.
What asks, and what doesn't
- Reading never asks. Listing your events or searching your notes is like reading a file: it changes nothing.
- Creating, adding and completing ask once, with a card that names what will be created before it exists.
- Deleting always asks, even in a conversation set to run without asking, because there is no undo. A deleted note goes to Recently Deleted in the Notes app; a deleted event or reminder is gone.
- Sending an email always asks, for the same reason: it leaves your Mac and cannot be taken back. That is why Naseem prefers to open a draft.
- When something is switched off, Naseem says so and points at Settings rather than quietly doing it another way. Asking for a reminder while Reminders is off will not put an event in your calendar instead.
Good to know
- Times are your Mac's times. Ask in your own words, "tomorrow at nine", and the event lands at nine where you are.
- Ids in brackets are how Naseem tells one event, reminder or note from another. You never need to type one; they are there so "delete the nine o'clock one" is precise rather than a guess.
- Long lists are bounded. Naseem reads a window of your mail rather than your whole mailbox, and says when there is more.
- Nothing is copied anywhere. What Naseem reads goes into the conversation you are having, and nowhere else.
